We’re partnering with parents to see the gospel transform youth. We want youth to know what it means to follow Jesus in an ever-evolving cultural context. During Discipleship Hour, we worship and study Scripture as youth learn about living with a Christian worldview.

Grades 7–12 meet for Discipleship Hour on Sunday mornings at 10:15am. We encourage teens to attend a worship service with their family or friends before or after the Discipleship Hour.

Foundations of Grace Part 2: Romans

Grades 7–8 | Meets in the Multi-purpose room | Begins Jan. 4

Perhaps more than any other book of the Bible, Romans clearly lays out the state of man and God’s plan of salvation. For youth and adults alike, Romans gives us both the worst possible news and the best possible news: not only do we desperately need a savior, but God has already accomplished that saving work through Christ. Romans tells us that we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Rom 3:23), but that while we were still sinners, Christ died on our behalf (Rom 5:8). He gave us his righteousness, his record. Now, because of what God has done for us, if we confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts, we will be saved (Rom 10:9). The biggest problem in all of our lives is a broken relationship with God, and here, Paul simply gives us the good news of the gospel: God is for us.

The Purpose of the Church

Grades 9–10 | Meets in Room 19 | Begins Jan. 4

This class explores what the Church is and why it matters—not just as a building or a tradition, but as God’s design for his people. Together, we’ll ask honest questions about our experiences of church and look at Scripture to understand its purpose, practices, and mission. We’ll see how worship, community, and discipleship shape us to love God and others more deeply. Our goal is to discover how the Church, when it’s done right, reflects the gospel to the world.

Survey of the Psalms

Grades 11–12 | Meets in Room 18 | Begins Jan. 4

The Psalms constitute the praise book of God’s people, Israel. They serve as prayers, praises, and worship directed from the hearts of God’s people individually toward him, as well as praises for the people of Israel to sing to God collectively in worship. Why does this matter for our teens?

  • The Psalms show students how to respond to God through all the trials and emotional challenges of life.
  • The Psalms recount God’s faithfulness to his people.
  • The Psalms teach us how to pray and how to worship God.
