Immanuel Lutheran School (ILS) in Alexandria, VA is seeking extended care teachers who will supervise (and assist in supervising) our morning and afternoon childcare programs and thus, maintain the safety and care of students who arrive early or stay late after the school day ends. The person in this role could serve in shifts or for full weeks, either for morning care (from 7:00–8:00 AM) or various times OR for the full duration of afternoon care (from 3:30–6:00 PM). ILS is a classical Christian school serving grades Jr.K–8 that endeavors to teach children the True, the Good, and the Beautiful. As a classical school, it draws on the understanding of the three stages of learning—grammar, logic, and rhetoric—to help children build a base of knowledge, learn to ask critical questions, and build cogent arguments. Divided into a Lower School (grades Jr.K–4) and an Upper School (grades 5–8), Immanuel offers a joyful team environment where teachers are excited to share a love of Christ and a thirst for knowledge each day with their students. If working alone, the extended care teacher would be responsible for up to 10 students; if working with another teacher, there would be 10 or more students. Training would be provided.
