Hello! Our house of 5 has one spot opening up at the end of November. We are all Christian guys, age range 23-33, and enjoy various activities including running, hiking, cooking, having friends over, lawn games such as spikeball, and playing music. We would prefer to live with someone who is also hoping to grow in their Christian faith. All guys are heavily involved with our local churches, which include Grace DC, Fourth Presbyterian (Bethesda), Church of the Resurrection, and Del Ray Baptist (Alexandria). This house is reaching three-and-a-half years of living together and the guys have benefitted tremendously from each other’s company and friendship. As much as we’d love to keep our current roster, one guy is will be leaving at the end of November to embark on married life. We are hoping to find a guy to fill the large shoes he will leave.
About the house: The house is situated on an awesome corner lot in a quiet part of the Petworth neighborhood of DC. While very residential, we’re only about an 8-minute walk to the Georgia Ave Metro stop (green line) and grocery stores, plus about a 3-minute walk to a Bikeshare station. There’s also a small neighborhood market across the street from us for quick snacks and grocery needs. Parking is incredibly easy, with unrestricted zones on both sides of the house and open spots every time of the day and night. The house has a HUGE yard (seriously, it’s massive) and we enjoy using it as a fun gathering space for the occasional summer party or chilly autumn evening around the fire pit. It’s also got a very solid kitchen with granite countertops, huge TV area, and a half-wraparound patio outside, all of which we use frequently. There are a ton of windows providing abundant light. Utilities usually come out to about $125 pp/per month, split evenly.
About the room: The room is a spacious, rectangular space of around 150 square feet on the top floor of the house, complete with a full bathroom. It’s carpeted and offers plenty of open floor space, making it easy to arrange furniture however you like. There’s also tons of wall space for decorations, and since it’s set apart from the rest of the house, it provides a nice sense of privacy—perfect for quiet nights and uninterrupted sleep. One thing to note is that while there’s plenty of storage available in the attic, the room itself doesn’t have a built-in closet. That said, the outgoing roommate is selling all the furniture currently in the room, including a standing wardrobe, dresser, bed frame, and desk with a chair, so you’d have a ready-made setup if you’re interested. As for the bathroom, while it’s fully attached to the room, it’s partially shared with the ground-floor roommate, since his level only has a half-bath. So while you’ll have the space to yourself most of the time, there will be some shared use for showering. This room rents for $1,030/mo.
About you: We’d hope to have our new roommates be someone who wants to do more than just coexist with us, and who is down for the occasional house hiking trip or museum crawl. All of us maintain active schedules, social calendars, and generally live on-the-go lifestyles, so we try to intentionally get a house dinner or other comparable house outing on the calendar every few weeks. If this sounds appealing, please reach out so we can chat more!
Logistics: Each of us has a $1,000 security deposit from when we moved into the house (approximately one month’s rent split five ways). You would need to purchase your interest in it from the outgoing roommate. Our lease is up for renewal at the end of May, and we would hope to sign for another year at that point. However, finding a good fit is important to us, and we don’t want the dates to be an automatic deal-breaker. Therefore, feel free to reach out even if your desired dates do not align perfectly with the Dec. 1 vacancy, and we can attempt to negotiate a mutually beneficial solution. Additionally, please feel free to reach out for more pictures of the space. We look forward to chatting with you!
