VETERAN'S DAY CHANGES: On Monday, 11/11, church staff will be teleworking. The church building will be locked, the front desk will be closed and will reopen on Tuesday, 11/12. ››Contact us
Each year, our congregation commits a Saturday morning to serve members of our community across Northern Virginia and the DC area.
WHAT: Meet at the church at 8:30am for a short time of food and fellowship in the Grand Foyer before coordinators will assign groups to a site — we’ll spread out across our community* to volunteer at local homes, missions partners, and other sites. Typical tasks include: raking leaves, trimming bushes/hedges, weeding flower beds, and other light yard/house tasks.
WHO: Young adults, college students, Community Groups, and families with children (pre-school age and older). Generally, service sites are assigned groups of 5–10 people; if signing up in a group or as a family, we will try to keep those groups together.
Breakfast provided at the church typically includes: granola bars, bananas, mandarin oranges, Chick-fil-A chicken minis, water, and coffee (bring your own water bottle or coffee thermos!)
*Specific service day sites are still TBD but have typically ranged from McLean, Sterling, Reston, and Fairfax, with an occasional site in DC. No site requires more than 2 to 3 hours work; some locations may require less time.
Do you know a Senior Saint who could use some help?
Contact Director of Community Life, Austin Kettle ([email protected]), to let us know — we’ll add them to our list of sites for Churchwide Service Day!
