Summary: The Director of Ministry and Operations will provide operational leadership to Grace Meridian Hill’s ministry vision. This individual will take a lead role in the execution and management of major ministry initiatives, as well as the supervision of Sunday service logistics and Ministry Teams. Essential to this role are problem solving, planning, decision making, and organizational skills; a strong leadership and management background; and a proven people skills and relational style of leadership.

Ministry Implementation (50%)
⋅ Work with Lead Pastor to develop major programming and strategic ministry initiatives (e.g., “One Body, Many Parts” Initiative, Advent, generosity, Black History Month, etc.).
⋅ Lead staff members and lay team leaders in the execution of these initiatives, serving as project manager (i.e., planning and implementing goals, priorities, and timelines, and ensuring they are executed in effective and creative ways).
⋅ Develop systems of internal communication, event/ministry planning, and budget management.
⋅ Oversee a multi faceted communication strategy with the congregation.
⋅ Lead staff meetings in collaboration with Lead Pastor, empowering team members and cultivating a dynamic, creative, mutually supportive, and collaborative staff culture.
Sunday Operations (20%)
⋅ Supervise all Sunday service logistics from opening to close
⋅ Schedule, manage, train, communicate with Sunday Team Leaders and volunteers (midweek, Sundays)
⋅ Develop systems for training and accountability of members for service; identify needs, gaps, inefficiencies for Sunday ministry

Ministry Teams (30%)
⋅ Lead the development of “One Body, Many Parts” and other related initiatives so as to foster an “every member ministry” culture at Grace Meridian Hill
⋅ Clarify/develop team leader and member responsibilities, empowering and deploying them for service
⋅ Provide basic shepherding to Ministry Team leaders, supporting them in their service and development
⋅ Equip team leaders with vision, encouragement, and practical tools for effective ministry
⋅ Create pathways for church members to join teams (member deployment)

* As a member and leader of the Grace Meridian Hill staff team, the Director of Ministry and Operations is required to participate in all weekly Staff Meetings (currently Tuesdays, 1:30pm 3:00pm).

⋅ Minimum of 5 years of professional experience. Experience in local church ministry or 501(c)3 non profits preferred; bachelor’s degree required
⋅ Strong people skills, winsome relational style, humble, teachable, approachable, emotionally mature
⋅ Excellent leadership and management abilities; able to coach and direct; committed to healthy team dynamics (e.g., healthy conflict resolution, honesty, joy at work, graciousness with failure)
⋅ Highly organized, detail oriented, able to create systems; proven planning, decision making skills; keen strategic thinker and ability to plan and execute multi-faceted ministry plans
⋅ Pro active self starter; able to work with only broad supervision
⋅ Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities
⋅ Flexible, able to adapt quickly within a dynamic (new/changing church) environment
⋅ Embraces, and able to articulate, Grace Meridian Hill’s mission and vision
⋅ High standards of professionalism and personal integrity
